He can juice, I can not.

Let me introduce myself. I'm Cyndi, 22 and happily married to a man who thinks I'm beautiful. When you constantly have accepting people surrounding you, you don't pay attention to the things everyone else does. In March of 2011 I went to the doctor, got on the scale (cringing like I do every time) and I couldn’t believe what I saw. Had this really happened? Was I really this heavy? I weighed in at a whopping 290 pounds. Heavier than my husband and heavier than my dad. I was ashamed, embarrassed and depressed. I could not believe I had let my weight get so out of hand. I couldn't believe my husband thought I was beautiful. I was the farthest thing from in my mind. Right then and there I decided I would not reach 300 pounds, no matter what!!
I started on medicine for my hypothyroidism, insulin resistance and arthritis and started a diet plan that evening. I started out with Weight Watchers, doing it online, with my husband and a friend. The first 3 weeks I was seeing marked improvement and then nothing. I hit my first plateau and I was completely discouraged! I fell off the wagon and started eating what I wanted not what would help me lose the weight.
A few weeks later a good friend introduced me to the MyFitnessPal website and I loved it! It has all the tools needed to aid in weight loss. Whitney and I even created a friendly weight loss competition and are both doing very well (though I will admit she is beating me!). Whoever wins though, we are truly both gaining something in this. We are losing weight and getting healthier.
Whitney and Charles recently introduced me to the juicing diet. Let me be honest and first say that I don’t very much like vegetables. In fact, I pretty much hate most of them! I really thought I could do it though, and really wanted to give it a chance. The first morning I had orange and apple juice mixed and it was fine. I was hungry but I could deal with it! Then we went grocery shopping together and all picked out our fruits and veggies. It was really a lot of fun, and I was excited! I got home, pulled out my mixer, whipped everything up and sat on the couch. The first three drinks of my juice weren’t so bad. Every sip thereafter, I thought I would puke. It was awful! I stuck in a straw and sucked that thing down. The next 30 minutes I legitimately thought I would throw up. I made juice ahead of time for dinner so I tried that one and that one was worse. My husband wouldn’t even swallow this one! Again, I hate veggies and I just couldn’t do it. I tried and maybe one day I'll go back, with better recipes, and try again. It obviously works, and can be done. Look at Whitney and Charles! :)
For now I am going to continue to use myfitnesspal.com and really watch what I eat. I'm going to try to stick with a lot of fruits and veggies and limit my carbohydrate and sugar intake. I also want to be exercising at least 4 times a week. I should be doing this anyway, and I need to!

Currently I am 261.8 and have lost a total of 28.2lbs
I have lost 8.8 inches between my neck, waist and hips in the last 5 weeks!

I look forward to sharing all of my diet trials and tribulations with you but more than anything I look forward to that scale saying 150!

Breakfast Juice Recipe

Before
Breakfast is the very best meal for me because I don't use any vegetables.  Fruits taste so good, it's hard to tell it is even dieting.  This is the before:

  • 1 Orange
  • 1 Peach
  • 1 Apple
  • 2 Kiwi

After
And the after doesn't look that bad does it?  It doesn't look as bad as the last post at least.  The last time I made breakfast I drank it all down in one minute, this time I tried to let it last.  That didn't work.  This is so good.  If you are nervous about juicing, try this first.

Things I've learned about Juicing so far (Day 1)

I watched the movie "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead" a few days ago and I was intrigued.  The guy in the movie is, as the title says, fat and sick.  He sets out on a mission to spend 60 days drinking only vegetable and fruit juice while educating america on health.
Other than him nearly yelling at every overweight person he ran into, he had a really good message.  We eat crap all day everyday and we don't even think about it.  He makes the point that we spend a lot of time and money on fixing our cars and homes but shove $1 grease burger ball rings down out throat.
So I started juicing and here are the things I have learned:

  1. Fruits taste so much better than vegetables when juiced.
  2. If you don't like pulp, buy a strainer or a very good juicer.
  3. The juicer will get covered in pulp and I mean COVERED.
  4. It probably wont taste that good to you at first but neither did coffee or alcohol.
I will post more post like this as I learn more about juicing.

First Meal Post

Before
This was my dinner before I prepared it:

  • 2 Stalks of Celery
  • 1 Cucumber
  • Handful of Parsley
  • Handful of Kale
  • 1 Beet
  • 2 Tomatoes (plum)
  • 6 Radishes
  • 1 Jalapeno
  • 3 Carrots

After

This is my meal after I was done.  It is a juice.  I know what you must be thinking now, that this is the worst thing I could have ever done to those veggies.  But how else would I have eaten all those for lunch and dinner if I didn't juice them.
I am drinking what you see while I right this post.  This is a take on a V8 that you can buy at the store.  It tastes like spicy grass but is better than others I have tried.  It made about 28oz before I strained the pulp out.  Don't knock it until you've tried it.

Let's Begin

Everything bad I could get in my mouth.  That is what I used to eat everyday before I decided to change everything.  I never put a second thought into what I was eating and it shows.  I am not in the body I want.  That is why I am doing this blog.  I am eating right.

Hopefully writing here will help me on my journey.  Look forward to many posts begging you to order me a pizza.

My Juicer.
